Q: I did have a question on the rapid fire of large caliber rifles and placement of the stock... Are you placing the stock under your arm or lightly against your shoulder?
A: To answer your question, the stock is placed where it should be for accurate fire; up-to the shoulder with a firm cheek weld. You cannot get a good cheek weld with the stock under your arm! The question isn't where the stock goes, it is what is being done to the rifle once you've place the rifle in the position with the most accuracy potential i.e. the most stable. You could place the stock under your arm and still utilize the technique, but you wouldn't be able to access your open sights. As the concept page states, your goal is to alleviate the pivot point. You are placing the stock against your shoulder only as a side effect of holding the rifle up with the tension afforded by the sling. If you have tension against your shoulder, the sling tension should be putting it there, not you pulling back on the gun. However, the tighter the gun is, and the more contact your body has on the gun, the more control you're going to have. You just have to remember to push forward, and not to pull back.
